I just wanted to build something weird. Doesn't really have any fluff yet.
It would have been a Superheavy, but SSW doesn't let me build those yet, so I had to make some compromises on the design...
And then I realized I had a lot of spare tonnage, so I started armoring things.
And even then, I still had tonnage leftover for an [armored] gun on a turret.

Okay, why would this need an ER Lg Laser with a TC? It's an engineering vehicle with a specialized duty as a bridge layer, not something that will need to target anything in precise detail for combat.
These units will have limited weapons, mostly Anti-Battlearmor stuff, and will rely on other mechs and vehicles to keep the bad guys away from them so they can support the main fighting units.

It has an ER Large Laser because I couldn't figure out what to spend the tonnage on.
When I say I had to make compromises to the design because it wasn't a superheavy, I was actually talking about critical spaces, not tonnage: A heavy bridge layer occupies a full 12 crits. Yikes. On a superheavy, that would be compressed down to six crits, meaning I could also fit a spot welder and lift hoist.
