All joking aside, you could actually field hundreds of these things in a High-BV game. Imagine being swarmed not with infantry, but with 'mechs.

You sure this isn't oversized Power Armor?
How much does the BV go up if you replace some ammo with a 2nd MG? 800 rounds seems like a lot. Would also suggest not wasting resources on double sinks.
Would suggest a loud speaker that says "don't hurt me" or maybe squeaks like a mouse.
All jokes aside, this could very well be used as a security mech, if you don't need front like cannon fodder.

I was specifically aiming to lower Battle Value rather than C-Bill Cost. If I wanted to lower the latter, it would be an IndustrialMech, but then it would lose the Composite Internal Structure and Small Cockpit.
Now, I did make a more legit design based loosely on this, and I named it after an extremely annoying biting/burrowing insect. I’ll post it later.

I made some tweaks to maximize statistical survivability without increasing BV. Check it out. Code:Cheapskate CHP-5

This unit is subject to the following design quirks: + Narrow/Low-profile (2 points) - Difficult Ejection (1 point) - Non-Standard Parts (1 point) Taking advantage of the fact that you can change the size of each ammo lot when you use fractional accounting. Unfortunately, there isn't a lot you can spend the extra tonnage on without increasing BV. Can't even use Hardened Armor on the center torso without outright doubling[ the unit's BV.
The use of Ferro-Lamellor armor on the side torsos, though, and Ferro-Fibrous on the head? Big improvement. Sadly, I can't put Standard Armor on the legs without massively increasing BV however.
Laser Heat Sinks, though... Yeah, by putting Laser Heat Sinks on this thing, I get a bonus against ammunition explosions due to high heat levels, which is fantastic because it means this thing can survive Infernos and Plasma Cannons in the middle of an active volcanic battlefield. And they don't increase BV over single heat sinks, strangely enough.
SO! Should I slap Hardened Armor on the torso, and just accept the BV cost? Yes or no?

Figuring BV has been something I haven't been able to do. The questions of increasing the BV is all dependent on how much it does so. If you want to make it so nothing can move on the board without tripping over one of these units, then no. If you want something that can survive long enough to fire a shot off, then you may have to. the 2/3 speed means getting lucky to just catch an Urbanmech or Annihilator.
Might be worth it to try to make a unit with a mech sized vibroknife and jump out of dark alley ways as the enemy walks by.
Now as for a security unit, then you shouldn't need upgraded armor for most common criminals.
