Overview:
An incredibly inexpensive second-line unit, the Chigger is deceptively dangerous. Two small pulse lasers, a blistering top speed, and a small stature make it incredibly deadly for its weight class, and the use of a standard engine coupled with a lack of ammunition-based weaponry make it exceptionally hard to kill with infantry-scale weapons. However, it is quite susceptible to larger weapons, with a single hit from a large laser being more than sufficient to expose the engine. In 3070, an experimental refit went out to address this, which replaced the armor with the then-recently developed Ferro-Lamellor, and traded the Pulse Lasers for lighter and more powerful ER Lasers.

Capabilities:
Ultralight Zombie 'mech. Well-suited to anti-infantry and scouting roles, along with swarming tactics. Small, fast, and hard to hit. Can be packed into DropShips with ease.

Deployment:
The Chigger is infamous for its tendency to be deployed in vast numbers, made possible by its incredibly low cost and compact profile. It is often issued to Solahma Mechwarriors, and usually put on riot-control or scouting duty.
