The latest update on this mod for HBS battletech has changed a whole lot of things.
If you are thinking about using it, make sure to read the information on the latest update.
If you are already using it, the newest update changes a lot of the game mechanics, including, but not limited to, battle armor hand holds are no longer something you can buy and install on any mech. Omnis are about the only mechs that can carry them now. Some vehicles, such as apcs can be used as well.
The no longer run with the main story line of BT. The TH is alive, as they had Cameron hiding out for a while, and came back to restore the TH. This means the main houses no longer touch each other near Terra. WOB is in the FWL, while Comstar is working in the TH.
More factions are now in the mod.
The mod is being referred to as BT Universe, not advanced, though I doubt they will change the website. It also starts in 3061 so you have about a year before the major events start, giving you some time to get established for them.
I have not played that much of it at the time of the post, so I can not give an honest opinion of the mod yet. One major thing I can say is I do not like the fact that battle armor is not as easy to get into your group. I was using them as sensor locking units for the most part. But oh well.
