Overview: First seen in 3048, the Hunchback 5HH was an upgrade kit for the Hunchback produced by Randam Mechwerks.
Capabilities: Built for urban combat and close range brawling, this this version goes into overdrive. It swaps the engine for a light version to save weight allowing the installation of an LB-20X autocannon with three tons of ammo, protected by CASE, the lasers are swapped out for a pair ER Medium Lasers mounted in the left arm and adds a Hatchet to the right arm with Triple Strength Myomer to further increase its close quarter fighting capabilities.
Despite some brisk early sales, a hatchet-equipped Hunchback remained a niche design, popular in gladiatorial arenas. Interest picked up during the Jihad as pilots discovered the incredibly lethality of the mech in close quarters fighting but the near complete destruction of Randam Mechworks meant that third party kits were made in limited runs to satisfy demand. When Randam was finally able to resume any level of production in the 3100's variants using Clan level tech were on offer, leading again to limited sales.
The later upgrade uses Clan-spec LB-20X and ER Medium Lasers, adding an extra ton of ammo protected by CASE II.

Nitpick: Light engines were broadly introduced in 3062, with development beginning by the Wolf Dragoons in c3052, after the Clan invasion begin.
Easy fix: it was introduced in 3062 rather than 3048.

The ermls finally gives the Hunchback some range. Sad that only 2 of them are there, but it is better then nothing. The limit of 15 shots total with the ac 20 is always an issue, but not much can be done with that. The extra range with the clan versions does help some there.
As it is not stated, I am assuming the heat sinks are singles. makes it easier to heat up to use the TSM. Still holds back the unit when outside of the arena.
One potential weight savings, though cost increasing thing for field combat, might be to put Ferrous Fiber armor or Endosteel on it. It will mean the particular unit will be areana or field, but it might give you some weight for more ammo, or more lasers.
Still looks like a decent city defender. Depending on the terrain, it may work well in the field. Given the Hunchbacks reputation, it is a very good decoy on the battlefield, as most will try and kill it before the ac 20 can be used.

Nitpick: Unless they are playing 100% canon, who cares about the light fusion engine?

Excellent point.

Field unit might do well with MASC or supercharger. The extra boost of speed may well throw off the enemy, causing them to rethink or actively change their plans in the fight. Few want to be in range of an ac 20.
If against normal (old weapons tech) the shorter range of normal mls, ac20s, and short range missiles will cause issues for attacking units. Granted, finding the weight to do the movement increases is a problem.
But then that is always an issue with any unit.
As a side thought, jump jets might be a thought. City fighting would definitely benefit, but not necessary. It is a usable unit as it is.
