I was planning to make the TRO and AS cards for a homemade civilian dropship that I designed (open to suggestions).

But I was thinking that before I put the 3D model and documents online, I should also make the flying version for anyone who plays those aerospace missions with jumpships and the like, but I know nothing about that.

So first, is there a different TRO or other documents needed for those space battles?

And second, what would be a good scale for that miniature, i.e.: how big would a flying Overlord miniature be?

I know the original Jumpships and Dropships gave information on the common stuff in use before the Helm core was decoded. It dealt with the size of the ships, including the jumpships. TRO 3057 had the normal as well as the SL upgrades along with the clan ships in it with the dimensions of the ships.
Warships are included in 3057 as well.

I would think you do not want to make it to scale with the figures that are out. As the Overlord carries 36 mechs, it might well be the size of an end table. And the Jumpship might well take up the hallway in a normal house.

Although it might be interesting to have a figure that you can open up and move the mechs around in it, such as the inside of a crashed warship. This is not advised, as it may need a 3d printer they use to build houses with.

As a side note, Battlespace was the first TRO to deal with the full space battles, and I believe there is a second book out.
I do think people would be envious of your stash if you did get this going. I know I would (be envious),

I'm going to have to look up Battlespace. It's a commercial dropship so it doesn't really need to hold mechs, in fact the interior of the mech-scale version has already be designed to accommodate LED lights.

As for the model size, I have already designed map-scale and mech-scale versions (see new attachment). A d while I doubt I ever will, I know some people play the space battles and I am under the impression that the minis for that must be smaller in order to be practical but I haven't found any examples to compare. Unless it has been changed, the hex scale for space battles is 5,000 meters (I believe), not 30 like ground combat.
So if it is just space battles, then you could use smaller figurines.
They do sell the pewter (lead) figures, but given the size of fighter figures, they don't really show the size difference.
You are just showing they are there, unless you make warship sized units that look like fighters.

I believe there is updated information to space battles that came out after Battlespace, but it has been a while since I last looked. The only real information I have was when I bought Aerotech. I know that was outdated before the turn of the millenia, and more has come out. The rules books show that.
The original Aerotech did not include warships, as they were not introduced at that time.

If you are using it for ground missions, then size can be important. Using things like loader mechs and such will show the size issues, but only if you want to be really picky.

If someone has some knowledge in showing this, they could chime in. I don't know enough to suggest much more then a basic general opinion, and even that is a bit suspect.
