I was looking at the engine chart recently and a question arose: "Is there any way to use the 385-395 ranker engines?" I have not given this extensive effort myself, but I wondered if anyone had used them, and I would like to see how.

hmmm....385 = 35 * 11, so mathematically, a 35-tonner can rate for it. However, with a 385 XL, and Endo Steel, that leaves only 4 tons for weapons, equipment, and armor.
390 = 65 * 6 I believe Bob made a couple using this engine...right Bob?
395 = 5 * 79...this one stumps me, unless there's some way to work in suspension factor on a hover or wheeled vehicle, or a VTOL. Anyone?

390s have turned up on (at least) the Clan Linebacker, a 65-ton, 6/9/0 mech.

>>>390 = 65 * 6 I believe Bob made a couple using this engine...right Bob? <<<
Quite. Two of my earliest designs, the Agressor and the Spector. FASA's Exterminator and Linebacker also use it.
>>>395 = 5 * 79...this one stumps me, unless there's some way to work in suspension factor on a hover or
wheeled vehicle, or a VTOL. Anyone? <<<
Actually, tanks don't have to have even tonnage. I could make a 79 ton tank with 5/8 movement to satisfy this requirement. Can't think how to use it in a 'Mech tho.

I guess I missed the 390=6*65, as I said I did not spend a lot of time thinking about it. But are the others (385 and 395) only really useful in unusually tonned vehicles?

The Wraith and Black Lanner both use the 385 XL engine in their chassis. Being 55 tons that makes them 7/11.

385s make 35 tonners go 11.
385s make 55 tonners go 7. (used on the Wraith.)
395 can apparently ONLY be used on vehicles.
