Overview: Few know of the history of the BMR-99 Boomer. It was concieved in 2665 by Technicron Manufacturing along with the AWS-8Q Awesome and both designs were summited to the Star league which favorer more insterest in the AWS-8Q. The BMR-99 plans were shelved for nearly two decades when Techricron revived the design and began a limited production run, with sources indicating between 200 and 350 units constructed. Production ended in 2693 for unknown reasons, possibly the Boomer line was decomissioned and retooled for Awesome production when demand increased.
Capabilities: The Boomer is a moble missle support platform, capable of launching up to 55 missles at long range. Like the Awesome, it's designed for long range combat against opposing mechs. One salvo can heavy damage an enemy before they can bring their weapons to bear. Two LRM-20 racks situatied in the torso and and one LRM-15 rack located on the right shoulder provide long range punch. Each is supplired two tons of ammuntion. For close in work, a small laser in the head and SRM-4 on the opposing limb round out it's short range weaponry. Additionally, it's large fists and heavy legs, the bigest every constructed on the a mech at the time, can turn most light and medium mechs to scrap. The Boomer does have a few flaws. Like it's younger brother, it's slow speed hampers its ability to in a running battle, most other unit's can run outside the unit's missle range before it can bring them to bear. The biggest problem was it's limited ammo supply. The enemy most often ignored a Boomer when it ran out of ammo. And because of it's slow speed, it was offten ignored by the enemy while it's lancemates were targeted for destruction first.
Deployment: Very few BMR-99's exist today, perhaps less then 2 or 3 dozen left. The few know to exist are either in the hands of minor lords or Periphery Bandit Kingdoms. Comstar has 7 units in mothball on storage and it suspected that 2 of the Five Great Houses have Boomers stationed on secondary garrison worlds.
Battle History: One actual battle of a Boomer is of an insignificant pirate raid on an insignificant backwater world. The pirates mechs consiisted mostly of Stingers and Locusts, and a few other fast light and medium mechs. The two lances of mechs were ambushed as them attempted to loot the warehouses of the local star port, if you could call it that. The planet's militia simply isolated and pinned down each mech while the Boomer blasted it from long range. The fight lasted less then half an hour, with the bandit mechs mostly destroyed or crippled. Two managed to retreat to their dropship and excape off plant.
Known Variants: There are several variants, mostly down downgrading an LRM or two for more ammo. Some simply remove the SRM. Others down grade all the -20 racks to -15 for an additional SRM and more ammo. The BRM-101 down grades all the LRM-s to 10 racks, supplised with 5 tons of ammo, and three SRM-6 with 15 reloads each. Four heatsinks are added to dissiipate the extra heat. This design is an excellant short- to mid-range fighter. (BV: 1,531 Cost: $8,725,178)

Nice, now is it a 95ton mech or a 100 tonner?

95 tons. Sorry, I thought I got everything when I cut and pasted it from DB.

yeah, TDB sucks that way...the "export" feature doesn't include Cost, BV, tonnage, or non-weapon (heat sinks, TSM, ES, FF, actuators, etc.) crit slot allocation.
Peace is that glorious moment in history when everyone stands around reloading.

Noting that it is a dead program, shame really it had a lot of good things, like how it handled Omni configs and such...
