------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ==Overview:== Built as a general pupose mech for milita and other low end groups, the Battler earn a sterling repuation during the fighting that swept across the Galatic Union, when the Warlords revolted. This ensuing civil war shattered the Union and caused wide spread devastion and destruction.
The Battler was pressed into service when fighting became so heated and dirty that each side in the four sided civil war were using what ever they could get their hands on.
The Battler proved do be an excellent mech for scouting, with it's lack of ammo based weapons the Battler was able to remain in the field longer and able to out class several other light mechs in the scouting role.
==Variants:== The full fledage recon version of the Battler removes all but one ER Small laser and replaces the rest with a Beagle Active Prode.
Some are also fitted with Guardian ECM as well.

Same comment as on HMPro: I'd take 2 ER MLs over 4 ER SLs.
Otherwise, looks like a fun mech.

Wha? I thought FASA killed below 20 ton mechs... anyways, its pretty expensive for a mech with no fire-power. Again, light mechs are usually not competetive with conventional vehicles for the cost and performance of each. Cockpits and Gyros are really expensive to be wasted on a mech of such light tonnage. I dunno, its makes me sad to think a SRM platoon of foot infantry can hold its own against this mech. I do like the concept of a cheap, low-end light mech for militia and whatnot, If I had my rulebook I'd show ya hows its done. How about a 20-ton lv 1 mech with 100-powered standard, max-armor and like, a LL or something. That'd cost less then this thing, and i'd have enough firepower to justify its existance.

No. The rules are still available in the MaxTech book. They're just a rare option instead of standard.

If every military thought that way, the US would be flying Mig-35s instead of F22s. Sometimes a nation doesn't mind the expense and, honestly, 1.35 million is chump change to the average Inner Sphere planet. That's likely true for Karagin's alternate history, too.

Pretty much the same, but slower and easier for conventionals to kill.

Not it wouldn't. Your 20-ton mech would be about 1.3-1.5 million, too.

Well, your right about the cost, about 1.2 million was what I got, but that'd keep the gryo to a 1.0 ton and save about 340,000 off the total cost, even from this design, which has a 2 ton gyro. But the concept of a cheap-combat focused light mech would be that as a subsitute medium mech, and I'd figure It only needs the speed of a medium mech. Small engines are cheap, and you can still mount energy weapons on your design, and you can max out your armor. OF course anything with a GR will kill your mech its still competetive with vehicles of the same tonnage and sometimes 1.2 million c-bill vehicles.

I took the suggestion you offered and made a version with the 2 ER MLs. Sent it home to a buddy, who found it to work better then original one with the 4 ER SL.
Thanks for the idea and all, I would let you know sooner, but for some reason Sarna and the internet at Camp Bucca didn't like each other.
Glad to see that folks are checking into the older postings and commenting on them.
