==Overview:==
The Enterprise Class Fleet Carrier was conceived in 2620 by Star League
Admiral Ross, who headed up the Star League Naval Aerospace Command. Upset
that the Riga Destroyer/Carrier didn't carry enough enough fighters to project
power into a potential theater of war, and embaressed by the Taurians Case
Amber that gave the SLDF and Federated Suns Fleets the run around, Admiral
Ross began to design a ship based around the old blue-water navy fleet
carrier.

Despite 10 years of red tape, cost overruns, and construction delays, the
first CV, Enterprise was launched. It performed better than expected during
its combat life, and was instrumental in both the Amaris Civil War and the New
Vandeburg Revolts.

The Enterprise Class ships were constructed somewhere deep within the
periphery, and the exact location is currently unknown. The last surviving CV
was being towed to this shipyard when the Star League fell and it hasnt been
seen since then.

==Capabilities:==
The main weapon of the Enterprise Class Fleet Carrier is not any ship mounted
weapon, but its 288 aerospace fighters. These fighters provide the bulk of
its strike assets and allow the SLDF to project power further than any ship
currently in its fleet. In addition to its fighters, it mounts 16 fleet
defense dropships.

Although not designed to engage any capital scale ship directly, designers
considered the possibility and added 10 Medium NPPCs and 10 NL45s. 400 Killer
Whale Missiles and 70 Barracuda Missiles are launched from the bow to strike
at large ships from a distance.

Because the greatest projected threat to the carrier was from fighters itself,
the ship is covered with point defense systems. 105 small pulse lasers cover
each arc, enough to ward off most fighters that stray too close. In the one
battle where it faced a mass fighter strike during the Amaris Coup, very few
of the fighters managed to penetrate the point defense systems to fire on the
ship.

Since it was designed to head a task force or, if nessecary, a fleet, an HPG
was added to allow for long range communications with headquarters or other
fleets.

The Enterpise carries two years worht of comsumables for extended deployment
in hostile theaters. It also carries 30000 tons of fuel for extended
manuevers, and like the fleet carriers of the late 20th Century, is capable of
refueling its escorting vessels if the need arises.


==Battle History:==
The Enterprise Class recieved its trial by fire in early 2650, when Task Force
21, led by the carrier Hornet, was sent to the world of Stein's Folly, where
Davion and Liao fleets had arranged themselves for a battle.

Backed by a traditional task force centered around two Texas Class
Battleships, the fleet jumped into the system right in the middle of a tense
standoff.

After two weeks of trying to convince both sides to stand down, Liao forces
struck, starting a confusing three-sided battle. The fighter wings of the
carrier proved pivitol in the battle, first knocking out both the Davion and
Liao aerospace fighters and then escorting cruisers into battle against the
capital ships from both sides.

The Battle of the Sol System wasnt too kind to the carrier, though. All six
carrier task forces jumped into the system, but the Space Defense System
destroyed 5 of them during the course of the battle and damaged the sixth
seriously enough that it had to be towed to the shipyard where it was
constructed for extensive repairs. The fighter wings from these ships
performed admirably, however, and were instrumental in providing close air
support to the forces on the ground, even after the carriers were lost.

==Deployment==
Eight Enterprise Class ships were built or under construction by the time the
Amaris Coup began. Of the six completed hulls, each was the center of its own
task force, and only one managed to survive the war. There is little
information about the two incomplete hulls and their fate.

The six completed ships were: CV-1 Enterprise, CV-2 Ark Royal, CV-3 Hornet,
CV-4 Midway, CV-5 Hiryu, CV-6 Akagi. The two incomplete hulls had not been
named.

According to my BattleSpace Rulebook/Source Book, no more then 8 Weapons may be mounted per standard bay and one standard bay per arc for drop ships and warships( I.E. 64 medium lasers max on a warship, 8 per bay, 8 bays/arcs). I'm just wondering, does this rule still exist or has it changed some how?

Also, I have been working on my own carrier design at half the weight and fighters, but when compared to yours it's more like an escort carrier or light carrier.
