VALIDATED

Class/Model/Name: Mammoth Mobile Fort
Tech: Inner Sphere / 2808
Vessel Type: Spheroid DropShip
Rules: Level 2, Standard design
Rules Set: AeroTech2

Mass: 52,000 tons
Length: 277 meters

Maximum Thrust: 5
Armor Type: Ferro-aluminum
Armament:
108 Long Tom Artillery
3 AR10 Launcher
12 ER PPC
25 Small Pulse Laser
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
During the darkest days of the Jihad, even civilian ships were pressed into
service. The Oliphant, a conversion of the Mammoth, was a particularly
effective refit that came out of the former Hindu Collective in Federated Suns
space.

==Capabilities:==
The Oliphant provides the RCT, regiment, or ad hoc combat group it escorts
highly mobile artillery support, an enormous amount of air cover, and even
limited surface-to-space fire support. What it can do to one map grid
(Battletech board) is inexplicable - 108 Long Tom shells falling in a
time-on-target salvo has to be seen to be believed.

The Oliphant can carry a battalion of heavy vehicles, thought it typically
carried a battalion of light spotter vehicles and 18 heavy vehicles. The
capacity of a regiment of battle armor represents a Hindu Collective design
feature - the former Collective worlds couldn't build warships or many
battlemechs, but they could refit dropships and build a lot of battle armor.

==Battle History:==
See: The Jihad.

==Deployment==
The Hindu Collective refitted the five Mammoths that had sought shelter among
its worlds. Four were lost, three during the assault on Terra, all to orbital
bombardment by the desperate WoB warship counter attacks.

This could very well be one of the meanest dropships ever. I hate to be the one trying to defend against a force with access to one of these things!
I find that 'pinpoint' accuracy during a bombing run increases proportionally with the amount of munitions used.

Dude, your .sig is EXACTLY the one I was thinking of when I designed this. If you have an inaccurate weapon, how do you hit reliably and accurately? Use a lot of'em...

I hate to see the look on someones face when your rolling scattered shots for two hours though...
(Thought I'd add that my sig is flavor text from the card carpet bombing in the card game Wotc made a long time ago.)

Nice refit...nice use of the cheesy storyline for something interesting.
