Well I got playing with drawing board some more and decided to take a look at designing some Level Ones. Most of these have little (if any at all) lore. Please critique effectiveness, etc... and whether you like any of these designs.
Barrel Foot BRL-2F Tonnage: 40 Engine: 280 16 tons Walk MP: 7 Run MP: 11 Jump MP: 7 (3.5 tons) Internal Structure: 4.0 tons Heat Sinks: 10 Cockpit: 3 tons Gyro: 3 tons Armor: 5.5 tons 88pts H: 8/3 Center Torso: 12/12 Center Torso Rear: 4 Right / Left Torso: 10/10 Right / Left Torso Rear: 4 Right / Left Leg: 8/10 Right / Left Arm: 10/6 Weapons and Equipment: Large Laser RT 2 crits 5 tons Jump Jet x2 RT 2 crits 1 ton Jump Jet x2 LT 2 crits 1 ton Jump Jet CT 1 crit 0.5 tons Jump Jet RL 1 crit 0.5 tons Jump Jet LL 1 crit 0.5 tons
-The Barrel Foot, named after it cylindrical shaped feet, is basically the hybrid of the extremely technologically advanced Hussar and the fast but poorly armed Spider. The concept lead designers to a relatively large chasis with above average movement capacity, and the extreme mobility of a large jump radius. The designers also adapted the Hussar's single "underslung" large laser weapon. Unfortunately the mech overheats quickly at full leap and mounts what many would consider poor armor for its size. BV: 689 Cost: 3,732,494 cbills
BRL-2F-D The davion variant replaces the mechs large single laser with a set of weapons extremely reminiscent of those used by the Valkyrie. Initial testing shows the mech's mobility combined with the more heat efficient variable range approach produces a superior design. Remove: Large Laser RT 2 crits 5 tons Add: Medium Laser RA 1 crit 1 ton Medium Laser LA 1 crit 1 ton LRM-5 CT 1 crit 2 tons Ammo (LRM-5)-24 H 1 crit 1 ton
BV: 704 Cost: 3,788,494 cbills
Rover RVR-1 The Rover was one of the earliest "companion" mechs to ever be built. While many mechs fill important specific roles the Rover was designed wholely to be a mech to help escort the Lyran Commonwealth's normally extremely Large and expensive mechs. Despite popular opinion relating the name to ancient terran exploration vehicles the Rover is actually named after one of the designer's dogs. The tag ling often employed by Rover manufacturers: "Your Awesome's best friend!" The Rover is built on a 4 legged or Quad chasis to facilitate repairs, increase the interchangable nature of the mechs parts, and provide a stable mount for the two large lasers it uses as a primary weapon system RVR-1 Tonnage: 35 Engine: 105 3.5 tons Walk MP: 3 Run MP: 5 Jump MP: 3 (1.5 tons) Internal Structure: 3.5 tons Heat Sinks: 15 (5 tons) Cockpit: 3 tons Gyro: 2 tons Armor: 6.5 tons 104 pts H: 8/3 Center Torso: 15/11 Center Torso Rear: 5 Right / Left Torso: 10/8 Right / Left Torso Rear: 4 Right / Left Front Leg: 12/8 Right / Left Rear Leg: 12/8 Weapons and Equipment: Heat Sink x2 RRL Heat Sink x2 LRL Heat Sink x2 FRL Heat Sink x2 FLL Heat Sink RT Jump Jet RT 1 crit 0.5 tons Large Laser RT 2 crits 5 tons Jump Jet CT 1 crit 0.5 tons Heat Sink LT Jump Jet LT 1 crit 0.5 tons Large Laser LT 2 crits 5 tons Heat Sink H BV:683 Cost: 2,197,260 cbills Some commander's criticized the mech's mobility, suggesting for its role as a support unit it may be better for it to invest the weight in armor or engine size. The designers submitted two variants: RVR-1A Remove: 3 Jump Jets 3 crits 1.5 Tons Add: 1.5 tons of Armor H: 9/3 CT: 16/11 CTR: 6 R/LT: 12/8 R/LTR: 4 R/L RL: 16/8 R/L FL: 16/8 BV:668 Cost: 2,132,460 cbills
RVR-2 Remove: 3 Jump Jets 1.5 tons 105 Rated Engine: 3.5 tons Add: 140 Rated Engine 5 tons (Head mounted heat sink becomes incorporated into the Engine sheilding) BV: 640 Cost: 2,222,460 cbills
King Crab KGC-0000-1 This redesign of the King Crab sacrifices the mech's original gigantic autocannons for huge arrays of smaller lasers. The powerful beam arrays can strike an opponent with the same force as the autocannons except that 1 they don't deal their damage in single clumps and 2 they never run out of ammo. This mech sometimes dubbed the Syd Barret variant is quickly becoming popular at the well renown field testing facilities of Solaris. KGC-0000-1 Tonnage: 100 Engine: 300 19 tons Walk MP: 3 Run MP: 5 Jump MP: 0 Internal Structure: 10 tons Heat Sinks: 30 (20 tons) Cockpit: 3 tons Gyro: 3 tons Armor: 17 tons 272 pts [same as the downgraded King Crab in the Record Sheets] H: 9/3 CT: 39/31 CTR: 12 R/LT: 29/21 R/LTR: 10 R/LL: 34/21 R/LA: 33/17 Weapons and Equipment: Medium Laser x5 RA 5 crits 5 tons Heat Sink x3 RA LRM-15 RT 3 crits 7 tons Ammo (LRM-15) x2 RT 2 crits 2 tons Heat Sink x3 RT LRM-15 LT 3 crits 7 tons Ammo (LRM-15) x2 LT 2 crits 2 tons Heat Sink x3 LT Medium Laser x5 LA 5 crits 5 tons Heat Sink x3 LA Heat Sink x2 CT Heat Sink x2 RL Heat Sink x2 LL BV:1,564 Cost: 9,572,000
This variant of the King Crab wastes a lot of its new extremely high heat disipation potential when fighting at longer ranges. This caused industrious engineers to create the following variant dubbed the 1-alpha. KGC-0000-1A Remove: LRM-15 RT 3 crits 7 tons LRM-15 LT 3 crits 7 tons Ammo (LRM) x2 RT 2 crits 2 tons Ammo (LRM) x2 LT 2 crits 2 tons 2 tons of Armor New diagram: H: 9 CT: 35 CTR: 12 R/L T: 26 R/L TR: 10 R/L A: 30 R/L L: 26 Add: Large Laser x2 RT 4 crits 10 tons Large Laser x2 LT 4 crits 10 tons Max heat short range: 32 Max heat Long/Medium range: 32 BV: 1,468 Cost: 9,392,000 cbills
well thats it for now
I find that 'pinpoint' accuracy during a bombing run increases proportionally with the amount of munitions used.

Your armor layout on the Barrel Foot is... well... for lack of a better term, 'screwy'. The only weapon mounted on the 'Mech is located in the CT, yet the arms are armored more than the legs. I would suggest rearranging the armor to better protect its mobility.
Other than that, they seem OK. I can just hear the command an Awesome pilot would give a Rover pilot to 'hunker-down'-- "Sit!"
