Well I got to thinking about things and I decided that the only thing better than giving players more equiment to play around with is the ability to design their own equipment. So here is an attempt at a method for creating "different" fusion engines:
Engine Rating - This is the average of the two output ratings (drive and overdrive), use this to determine the weight of the engine as per the fusion engine table.
Drive Output: this rating determines the mech's Walk MP
Overdrive Output: this rating multiplied by 1.5 determines the mech's Run MP The over drive may not be larger than (Drive rating)x2 or smaller than (Drive rating)x0.5

An Example:
put into a 100 ton mech
300 rated engine
Drive: 300 - Walk MP: 3
Overdrive: 300 - (300x1.5 = 450) = Run MP: 5

another example
in 100 ton mech again, 300 rated engine
Drive: 200 - Walk MP: 2
Overdrive: 400 (400x1.5 = 6) - Run MP: 6

this seems like a pretty balanced system to me, let me know what you think...
I find that 'pinpoint' accuracy during a bombing run increases proportionally with the amount of munitions used.
