While the light and relatively compact Arrow IV Artillery system entered service, at the height of the Star League, few suspected it could ever be improved upon while maintaining its utility as an artillery weapon. Over the centuries few have even tried to improve the flexiable system that proved useful both in support vehicles and those more suited toward combat, such as battlemechs. The change to this universal status quo in artillery came in 3066 when Taurian Engineers began their ill advised Light Arrow IV project. The goal of the project was to produce a lighter artillery peice that could replace their few older artillery peices and allow for reinforced armor. Unfortunately inner sphere technology was far from improving on the system and of the 6 prototype units only one proved at all viable. This prototype eliminated ammo bins and loadingh mechanisms to create the inner sphere's first true OS Artillery System since the ancient Terran missile systems fell into disuse.
The OS Arrow IV while eliminating much of the mass and space of the original system, only mounts one shot, and is still heavier than most combat weapons not intended for use as artillery. Word has spread further into the inner sphere that the concordant ever savvy of even its most meager reasources has begun to produce modified LRM Carriers that mount OS Arrow IV systems. These crafty vehicles provide an extremely mobile, though limited use, artillery support. Battlefield testing has supported the viability of such a design but in practice to make a difference in a battle these Light Artillery units need to be deployed in mass.

I find that 'pinpoint' accuracy during a bombing run increases proportionally with the amount of munitions used.
