Update 6/16/04 10:39PM PST - All has gone well, we're back up.
A sad day is coming soon. After 229 days of 24/7 uptime (its second boot nonetheless), serverbeach.com (who runs the network sarna.net and nicj.net is on) is doing some maintenence on their power grid, so all machines are getting shutdown.

I love linux -- show me one Windows machine that has been running 229 days straight (and I work at Microsoft).
On June 16 23:00 PST, the power will be off for approx 5 hours. Hopefully, we'll be up and running immediately after (or sooner).
A preventative "lets see if we can reboot OK" will be scheduled for June 16 1:00 AM PST.

You work at Microsoft? Oh, man... sure, Visual Studio is a nice program, and Office is also a nice program, but, well, no comment on the rest of Microsoft's products. What do you get to do for MS?
Lousy good-for-nothing mortals. Can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em.

I'm an intern in the Windows Client Performance team (Perf). We make the kernel go faster. Our sister-team is the Reliability team, ironically.
It's funny how easy it is to bash Microsoft from the outside (I did). But since I've been here, it's a great company and they're really trying to get going in the right direction as far as security, reliability and performance are concerned.

I really wouldn't like to work on the Reliability team
Pfft, MS Office? Three words, Open Office, and free I'd use it if I didn't get MS Office from my college for free.
Good luck in the belly of the beast Nic
