------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ==Overview:== Designed to be a cheap gun platform, the Gorilla is designed to operate away from the front lines, providing close artillery support for armoured and mech regiments.
==Capabilities:== The Gorilla is a simple design. The Sniper artillery piece is mounted in an armoured blister at the front of the vehicle, giving it a high elevation, but limited traverse. If a wide field of fire is needed the driver must move the vehicle to accomodate the new firing angle.
Loading is done automatically from a series of 10-round hoppers, feeding ammo directly into the gun.
The Gorilla is not heavily armoured with only 3 tons of regular plate, but it is considered ample enough for its intended duty.
==Variants:== The only known variants of the Gorilla is the ammo carrier, which replaces the Sniper with 25 tons of ammo and cargo space for a number of power loaders to keep the Gorillas fed with ammo. Recent versions incorporate CASE to protect nearby vehicles from ammo explosions.
==Deployment== The Gorilla is usually deployed in lances or companies, providing support to batallion sized units and larger.
Most commonly found with houses Steiner and Marik units, the Gorilla is a popular artillery unit across the Inner Sphere.
