After the IlClan Trial, Clan Wolf became the IlClan, but Khan Alaric Wards taking almost all the available warriors to Terra left the Wolf Empire totally defenseless. However, it has a remaining high officer: Star Colonel Othar. He, acting by his own initiative, took the control of all the Empire's resources and began creating two new Galaxies: Lupus Galaxy and Rufus Galaxy.[1]
One of the later was the 102nd Wolf Garrison Cluster. As a Garrison Cluster, it was posted in a vital industrial or strategic planet to protect it. It was the first of the newly formed Clusters to be tested in the field: they were posted on the planet Oliver, which had two important industries of the former Republic of the Sphere, and the 13 November 3152, and unknown force of raiders attacked it.[2]
The raiders piloted a hodgepodge of BattleMechs painted in rocky-terrain camouflage, bearing no insignias. the 102nd attempted to trap them, but the raiders avoided them and reached the Quikscell warehouses, where the factory's output was stored, showing an intimate knowledge of the terrain and the warehouses. The 102nd attempted to hold the enemy on place and trap them, but the intruders collapsed the roof of a warehouse. While the Cluster was digging on it, the raiders looted another warehouse. At the end, the 102nd managed to down a DropShip of the raiders as they fled, but it costed the Wolves all their fighters.[3]
The analysis of the raiders' downed 'Mechs and DropShip wreckage pointed to them of being of RAF origin, but without conclusive evidence.[4]
