The 126th Mechanized Infantry Division was a part of the Star League Defense Force Regular Army.
History[edit]
During the Reunification War, the Thirty-sixth Brigade, attached to the Twelfth Division, was one of the most decorated units of the Taurian Concordat campaign. For their numerous triumphs, they were given their name "Bullfighters from Seville." After the war, the brigade was expanded to a full division and became the 126th Mechanized Infantry Division.[1]
In 2764, the unit was stationed on Kagoshima,[2] assigned as part of XLIV Corps, Sixteenth Army to District 3 of the Draconis Combine Military Region but was moved to an undisclosed are of the Periphery in 2765 to take part in the Periphery Uprising.[3]
The 126th went missing in action circa 2766–2769, and the ultimate fate of the unit is unknown.[3][4]

Tactics[edit]
The Mechanized Infantry divisions of the Star League were used offensively to exploit gaps in the enemy front created by the BattleMech divisions. They also bore the brunt of defensive actions.[5]
Composition History[edit]
The Division comprised two brigades of mechanized infantry and a single BattleMech brigade. Also attached was a ground aero wing.[5]

- The unit was erroneously referred to as the 1216th Mechanized Infantry Division on Field Manual: SLDF, page 195.
- ^ The Star League and Historical: Reunification War state that in 2575, the SLDF had ten full corps with each divided into three divisions and nine brigades in a set organizational structure.[6][7] The Thirty-sixth Brigade's parent Twelfth Division was listed as being a division of one of those corps.[8]
