The 138th Mechanized Infantry Division was a part of the Star League Defense Force Regular Army.
History[edit]
The 138th placed second in the Best Division category of the 2736 Martial Olympiad. Accusations of foul play and judge manipulation led to an investigation, but would be dropped sometime after its then-commanding officer and his command staff had retired.[2]
In 2764, the unit was stationed on Tuat,[3] assigned as part of XLIV Corps, Sixteenth Army to District 3 of the Draconis Combine Military Region but was moved to an undisclosed are of the Periphery in 2765 to take part in the Periphery Uprising.[4]
The 138th was destroyed during the Hegemony Campaign,[4] during the assault on Lone Star in July 2772. M-5 "Caspar" Capital Drones, as part of the Space Defense System controlled by the Amaris Empire, drove into the middle of the Star League fleet en route to the planet and focused their fire on the more than 200 troop DropShips. After just a few minutes of fighting, the 138th was almost entirely wiped out.[1]

Tactics[edit]
The Mechanized Infantry divisions of the Star League were used offensively to exploit gaps in the enemy front created by the BattleMech divisions. They also bore the brunt of defensive actions.[5]
Composition History[edit]
The Division comprised two brigades of mechanized infantry and a single BattleMech brigade. Also attached was a ground aero wing.[5]
