Fourteenth Sainze Rear Guard Battle Cluster was a second line Cluster of Kindraa Sainze. In 3059 and 3067 the Cluster was stationed on Shadow.[1][2]
Garret Sainze was elected to ilKhan in February 3071, but did not handle the position well. Disgusted at the entire political circus taking place, Scorpion Khan Ariel Suvorov declared a Trial of Refusal against Sainze's election as ilKhan, declaring him an incompetent leader with delusions of glory.[3] With no choice but to accept or lose what little respect he had left, Sainze met Suvorov's forces on Shadow. In a three-day campaign four Clusters from his Kindraa battled a like number of Goliath Scorpions; by the end of the fighting Sainze had perished, along with the Fourteenth Sainze Rear Guard Battle Cluster.[4]

Tactics[edit]
The Cluster was known for its defensive initiative in difficult terrain. The Command Binary was well-equipped with frontline machines.[6]

- 120% full strength with 15% of the force equipped with OmniMechs.
Color Scheme and Insignia[edit]
Kindraa Sainze painted their machines in a red-and-orange combination and wore a black uniform with red-and-orange accents. Field uniforms were a black-and-gray camouflage pattern.[5][7]
As a second-line unit, the Fourteenth Rear Guard Battle was not allowed to use a nickname or individual insignia. Fire Mandrill Kindraa placed the Clan standard on each machine, though not always prominently. The Kindaa Sainze insignia was a stylized black fire-breathing dragon over a green field.[5][8]
