History[edit]
First Succession War[edit]
The Fifteenth Dieron Regulars were one of thirty-one regiments of Dieron Regulars to be created by the Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery after 2765.[7] The Dieron Regulars expanded by ten regiments during the Amaris Civil War,[2] and a further twenty-one regiments were raised between the end of the Civil War and the end of the First Succession War. The Fifteenth was one of the ten regiments created between 2765 and the end of the Civil War in 2779.[2]
Third Succession War[edit]
In 3022, the Fifteenth Dieron Regulars were on Al Na'ir when the Third Crucis Lancers raided the world.[8] The Fifteenth was stationed on the world of Al Na'ir with the Eighth Dieron Regulars in 3025.[9] While assigned to this world, the unit became proficient in fighting in a Zero Gravity Combat environment.[10]

War of 3039[edit]
The Fifteenth were stationed on Al Na'ir throughout the War of 3039.[11]
Towne Invasion[edit]
In January of 3058, the Fifteenth Dieron Regulars led a six-regiment invasion force to take possession of the Federated Commonwealth world of Towne. Frontline units, considered renegades by the Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery, were supported by Black Dragon-raised regiments staffed with Yakuza thugs, including the 1st Dragons Joy Infantry. The invasion, which Towne Planetary Chairman Howard Blaylock arranged, quickly took control of the capital city of Port Howard. On Towne at the time was the mercenary unit known as the Seventeenth Recon Regiment, who had been hired by Chandrasekhar Kurita to reinforce the planet's weakened militia forces.
Those defenders stationed in the planetary capital were forced into hiding in the rural regions of Hyboria. The mercenaries would manage to build up a number of local resistance groups with the aid of the local chartered militia. Together, they conducted a low-level guerrilla war, which whittled down the occupying Black Dragon forces. By April, after the Planetary Chairman's execution of a number of Seventeenth Recon Regiment officers and making threats against their children, the Seventeenth launched what became known as the Battle for Port Howard. As 'Mechs of the Seventeenth Recon fought Black Dragon 'Mechs, a commando team led by Lt. JG Cassie Suthorn penetrated the city Administration Building and freed the Seventeenth's dependents. The battle ended when Suthorn managed to capture the invasion's commander and had him commit seppuku, captured on holovid broadcast. The death of the invasion commander ended the conflict on Towne.[12]
Lyran Alliance Incursion[edit]
Ko[edit]
The Fifteenth was assigned to Ko sometime in 3061. On August 1 3062, the Fifteenth Dieron Regulars fought against the Lyran First Skye Jaegers, seeking revenge for a raid the Regulars allegedly conducted against Skye in July. It was later discovered that a Periphery mercenary unit hired by the Black Dragon Society posing as the Fifteenth had conducted the raid on Skye and other Lyran and Combine worlds.[13] Civilians were leaving the officially "neutrally-occupied" Lyons Thumb world in droves, and the Combine forces did not see the attacker's JumpShips in the system until their DropShips had almost arrived at the planet, traveling at a velocity of a nearly constant two Gs. The Jaegers retreated after they suffered heavy losses, however, they took the Fifteenth's salvageable 'Mechs and equipment to slow the Fifteenth's rebuilding.[14][15]
Federated Commonwealth Incursion[edit]
Draconis March Incursion[edit]
Al Na'ir[edit]
During the FedCom Civil War, FedCom March Lord, Duke James Sandoval launched an invasion of the Draconis Combine, believing the rogue attack his capital world of Robinson and other worlds on October 18th, 3062.[16]
The Regulars were assigned to Task Force to retake worlds fallen to Duke James Sandoval's forces. In late June in 3064, the Regulars arrived in Al Na'ir shortly being followed by 10th Ghost in early July. The occupation force consisting of the 12th Deneb Light Cavalry and Fighting Urukhai were reinforced through the 12th Vegan Rangers Alpha Regiment from Algol, led by General Ariel Zibler. She directed the attached 27th Federation Tactical Fighter Regiment to fend off the Ghosts' and Regulars' attempts to land on the asteroids of the Al Na'ir system. However, asteroids themselves destroyed some of FedCom fighter cover, within weeks fighting Tai-sa Samuel Noda of 10th Ghost directed Task Force efforts to asteroid known as Yori's Perdition. Though the assault was repulsed, Ghost & Regulars were able to land two battalions of ISF special forces to root out the 12th DLC's troops from underground complexes. Eventually, the Regulars and Ghost had rooted out the Davion troops from Al Na'ir by September.[17]
Addicks[edit]
Coordinator Theodore Kurita authorized Combine forces to pursue and punish FedCom forces that took part in the invasion. The Regulars' Task Force was then dispatched to Addicks, where the unit landed January 24th, 3065.[18]
On planet, they found an uncoordinated and demoralized 12th DLC and its mercenary support force, the Fighting Urukhai. The two FedCom forces had begun resenting one another due to the loss of Al Na'ir. Regulars and the 10th Ghost launch battalion-sized waves of troops on a rotating basis to wear down the beleaguered Davion troops. Held up in the Loknair Military Complex, the Davion troops held on for two weeks of Regulars and the Ghost wave assaults against their defenses. The Davion troops held on due for the seizer of supplies from year-long occupation of Al Na'ir. General Zibler ordered her troops to withdraw from the Complex, leaving the Fighting Urukhai alone to defend the complex out of revenge.[citation needed]
The Regulars and the Ghost at Tai-sa Noda's lead nearly wear out the mercenaries until the Davion Assault Guards arrived on February 13th. Due to now facing the House Davion's most powerful force, along being with exhausted after two days of fighting with them and Addicks' defenders, Regulars and Ghost withdrew to Al Na'ir.[19]
Jihad[edit]
During the Jihad, the Fifteenth apparently once again sided with the Kokuryu-kai rebels, securing Xinyang, Braunton and Dyfed. They were effectively destroyed by the Seventh Sword of Light and the Internal Security Force on Xinyang, though some guerrilla action continued.[20] While the regiment was effectively destroyed in 3075, members of the Fifteenth were considered to be the most likely suspects behind a wave of mass terror attacks - some using bioweapons - across the Benjamin Military District in 3076 and 3077.[3] Both the Fifth and Seventh Sword of Light regiments were active in working alongside inquisitorial teams of ISF and Order of the Five Pillars personnel to hunt down survivors from the Fifteenth and the First Proserpina Hussars across the Oshika and Xinyang Prefectures before being reassigned to Operation SCOUR.[21]

Tactics[edit]
By the end of the Third Succession War, the Fifteenth had become an assault force with no specialty.[4]
In 3025, the Fifteenth Dieron Regulars had excellent training in Zero-G atmosphere combat, achieved through their garrison duty on Al Na'ir[27]
Despite its disgrace and loss of expertise, the unit was specialized in Urban Combat by 3059.[6]

Colors and Unit Insignia[edit]
After the unit's actions in siding with the Black Dragon Society in 3057, they were required to paint their machines a flat gray and could no longer display their own regimental insignia or the House Kurita crest. They could display only the red starburst and setting sun Dieron District insignia.[6]
At other times, the usual pragmatism of the Dieron Regulars means they prefer to use only battlefield-appropriate camouflage schemes. If required, all Dieron Regulars regiments paint their equipment white with gold trim, with the amount of gold signifying their level of experience. The Kuritan Dragon is fixed to a BattleMech's right shoulder, with the Dieron District's starburst insignia below it. Regimental Insignias are painted on the upper left legs. Conventional machines paint the insignias in their corresponding locations.[6][33][34]
