History[edit]

Clan Invasion[edit]

Immediately prior to the Clan Invasion, the green Eleventh Alshain Regulars were stationed on Trolloc Prime.[7]

Transferred to Kanowit to support the more experienced Thirty-fourth Galedon Regulars, the Eleventh Alshain Regulars faced Clan Nova Cat's Alpha Galaxy in March 3052 during their fifth invasion wave. The invading troops were commanded by the Cat saKhan, Lucian Carns, who chose to split his forces and attack both units simultaneously. The troops of the Eleventh took up position on a high bluff that fell steeply away to a grassy plain, relying on this natural fortification to delay the First Nova Cat Guards who landed on the plain below.[8]

Confused as to why they chose such an open place to fight, Carns quickly discovered his forces were unable to easily approach the Eleventh's positions, a choice intended to frustrate the Nova Cat advance until the Thirty-fourth Galedon could assist the Eleventh. Ultimately, the Thirty-fourth Galedon was forced to retreat, leaving the Eleventh Alshain Regulars to face the Nova Cats on their own.[8]

When the saKhan ordered the 449th Assault Cluster to redeploy behind the Eleventh's lines, the green Alshain troops broke and ran. A substantial portion of the Eleventh Alshain Regulars successfully reached their DropShips and made it off-world, however, much to the embarrassment of the Nova Cats.[8]

Operation BULLDOG[edit]

The unit mustered on Leiston and then garrisoned on Avon following its capture from the surrendering Clan Nova Cat. The Eleventh were then diverted from Marshdale and instead sent to Meinacos to reinforce the world's garrison. The Eighth Dieron Regulars, St. Ives Cheveau-Légers, First Canopian Cuirassiers, and Eleventh Alshain Avengers destroyed the 267th Battle Cluster from Clan Smoke Jaguar during their failed counterinvasion. The Seventh Pesht Regulars were called from Unity, but arrived too late to impact the battle. The Eleventh's warriors performed a daring combat drop onto the 267th, fighting with berserker-like fury, with two lances being destroyed in exchange for a Jaguar Star in one particular battle.[9]

Dominion War[edit]

In mid-3062, the Eleventh was assigned to the world Yamarovka, where they began months of cross-training with the newly formed Zeta Provisional Galaxy of Clan Nova Cat. The Avengers fought a series of exercises with the new unit, including the First Dragoncat Cluster.

The Dragoncats trained closely with the Eleventh's Third Battalion and its commanding officer doubled as a liaison officer to the Nova Cat unit.

Unknown to the Draconis Combine's High Command, the Eleventh was ordered by Tai-shu Toshimichi Uchida, who was under the influence of Duke Hassid Ricol, to join the invasion of the former district capital of Alshain in late September in Operation BATU.

On October 1st, thanks to a vision, Dragoncat MechWarrior Zane Nova Cat uncovered the plan and alerted his superior, Star Colonel Jal Steiner, convincing him to deploy his unit. The First Dragoncats blocked Eleventh from going to their DropShips, asking that they wait 48 hours for confirmation of the order. With their invasion on a strict timetable, the Eleventh attacked the Dragoncats in a deadly night battle in the midst of a gale-force thunderstorm. The sides devastated each other in the conflict, but the numerically superior Avengers soon gained the upper hand.

Eventually, MechWarrior Zane challenged the Third's commanding officer, Palmer Yoshio, to the ritual of zellbrigen, which he accepted. Yoshio, feeling sorry for his former comrade, offered hegira to him. Unfortunately, one of Yoshio's men, furious at the offer of hegira, killed Zane with an autocannon shot to his Pack Hunter's head, decapitating the 'Mech. Despite the fact than the furious Yoshio killed his man seconds later, it was too late: this blatant violation of zellbrigen provoked the rest of Zeta Provisional Galaxy, which had until then remained on the sidelines, into attacking the Eleventh in full force.

Hopelessly outmatched and unable to reach their DropShips, Yoshio ordered his forces to pull back, and, by November, the Eleventh was reduced to fighting guerrilla actions.[10] Later that month, Sigma and Omega Galaxies of Clan Ghost Bear arrived on Yamarovka and completely destroyed the remaining forces of the regiment.[3][4][5][11]

Color Scheme and Insignia[edit]

The units of the Alshain Regulars were known to use white, various greys, and a vibrant jade green. There is no official pattern and pilots are allowed to customize in camo and colored paneling schemes. Murals or other personal flourishes are observed.[16][17]

The Alshain Avengers discarded the Alshain Regulars' color scheme and regimental insignia and did not use camouflage, wanting their hated Clan enemies to know who they were facing. The Eleventh Alshain Avengers painted their machines pure white with scarlet accents. The new Avenger brigade insignia was that of a red dagger pointing out of an eclipsed sun with a flaming corona. This insignia appeared on the upper right arm of BattleMechs and was prominently displayed on all other vehicles. The regimental insignia was a white Kuritan Dragon.[16][14][18]
