|1st Royal Mechanized Infantry Division|
|Previous Designation(s)||1st Cavalry Divison|
|Nickname||The First Team|
|Parent Command||XV Corps|
The First Royal Mechanized Infantry Division was a part of the Star League Defense Force Regular Army. It was one of the SLDF's Royal units, which consisted of troops from the Terran Hegemony. The unit traced its origins back to the pre-Soviet Second Civil War formation of the First Cavalry Division of the United States Army. Given their illustrious history, the First has always occupied a place of honor within the HAF and SLDF. They enjoyed access to the best training available as well as cutting-edge equipment from Terra.
In 2764, the First was the most skilled mechanized infantry division in the entirety of the SLDF. The First was a part of XV Corps within the Fifteenth Army, assigned to District 2 of the Draconis Combine Military Region; the First was later moved to an undisclosed area of the Periphery in response to the Periphery Uprising by 2765. The First survived the war and the Hegemony Campaign, and followed General Aleksandr Kerensky on the Exodus in 2784.
