The 270th Mechanized Infantry Division was a part of the Star League Defense Force Regular Army.

History[edit]

Circa 2763, a bandit raid killed most of the 270th's command staff. Major General Nassar Maloof was tabbed to be the new commanding officer, but after a bombing killed the CO of the 166th Mechanized Infantry Division in late 2763, Maloof was redirected there to stabilize the situation. The 270th would still be awaiting a new permanent commander the following year while the division was kept running by a career logistics officer.[1][2]

In 2764, the unit was stationed on Adelson,[3] assigned as part of LXII Corps, Fourth Army to District 3 of the Federated Suns Military Region but moved to an undisclosed area of the Periphery in 2765 to take part in the Periphery Uprising. The 270th was destroyed during the Hegemony Campaign.[4]

Tactics[edit]

The Mechanized Infantry divisions of the Star League were used offensively to exploit gaps in the enemy front created by the BattleMech divisions. They also bore the brunt of defensive actions.[5]

The 270th were urban combat specialists.[1]

Composition History[edit]

The Division comprised two brigades of mechanized infantry and a single BattleMech brigade. Also attached was a ground aero wing.[5]

As of 2764, each infantry brigade had an attached heavy armor regiment.[1]
