The Second was a combined-arms force consisting of KF Drive equipped strike cruisers and assault carriers with attack transports carrying Colonial Marines. When the Outer Reaches Rebellion started in 2236, the Second Interstellar Strategic Combined Assault Force was on maneuvers around Saturn in the Terran system.[1]
While the government of the Terran Alliance was debating how to respond to the rebellion of the colony worlds, both General Armando Luchesi and Admiral Leondard Julliard would transmit orders to the Second and have them make way to the rebelling systems with a plan to blockade the system's Jump Points, land marines on world, disarm the local populations there and replace, by force if necessary, any colonial leadership with military officers.[1]
