The 500th BattleMech Brigade was a special command with the Star League Defense Force that functioned as a public relations unit.[1]
History[edit]
The 500th BattleMech Brigade was established shortly after the formation of the Star League in order to showcase the best and brightest MechWarriors, aerospace pilots, and soldiers. Staffed entirely with charismatic personnel, the Phoenix performed in Star League BattleMech parades and planetary air shows, easily silencing their critics who had considered them little more than poster material.[1]
The 500th was disbanded sometime after the death of First Lord Simon Cameron and its members were reassigned to Regular Army forces.[1]
Influence[edit]
Major General Farzad Ahmad joined the SLDF during a recruitment drive after witnessing a demonstration show by the 500th BattleMech Brigade.[2]
Rim Worlds Republic President Selanta Amaris took note of the SLDF's 500th BattleMech Brigade as a recruitment and PR tool and reestablished the Third Amaris Legionnaires as her own demonstration regiment to increase the interstellar reputation of the Republic's MechWarriors.[3]
