The Fifth Hussar Regiment was a part of the Star League Defense Force Regular Army.
History[edit]
In 2764, the unit was assigned as part of XXIV Corps, Fifth Army to District 1 within the Capellan Confederation Military Region.[3] The Fifth and fellow XXIV Corps independent regiments the Ninetieth Hussar and 281st Light Horse fashioned themselves like something from old western tri-vids, adopting western themes and touches but also "saving the day" several times by stopping bandit raids on the Free Worlds League and Federated Suns borders.[2]
The Fifth was transferred to District 2 of the CCMR in 2765 in response to the Periphery Uprising.[3] The unit survived the war chose to join the Federated Suns in 2784.[3][1] The Armed Forces of the Federated Suns redesignated the Fifth the Second Avalon Borderers, expanding the Avalon Borderers brigade using the Fifth and two other former SLDF regiments.[1]

As an SLDF Hussar regiment, the Fifth would have been composed primarily of medium to heavy BattleMechs, tanks, and hovercraft.[4]
