Formed in 3101 from elements of the Ninth Marik Militia, the Fifth Rim Commonality Guards was instrumental in facilitating Astrokaszy's incorporation into the Rim Commonality. The unit remained on Astrokaszy from at least 3135 to 3145.[1] [2] They were facing a pirate band that used a custom ATAE-70A ArtilleryMech that was able to evade the forces as they lacked aerospace fighter support.[3]
When war broke out between the resurrected Free Worlds League and its neighbors in 3146, the Fifth was deployed against Canopian invaders on Tellman's Mistake. There the fighting against the First Canopian Brigade bogged down into stalemate before FWLM reinforcements arrived to repel the invasion force.[4]
In 3150 the Fifth was stationed on Astrokaszy when the Marian Hegemony invaded that world, proving unable to repulse the IV Legio elements that landed.[5]
