The Eightieth Mechanized Infantry Division was a part of the Star League Defense Force Regular Army.
History[edit]
In 2764, the unit was stationed on Mualang,[2] assigned as part of XXXVI Corps, Sixteenth Army to District 3 of the Draconis Combine Military Region.[3] In order to respond better to the increasing amounts of raiding from the Lyran Commonwealth border, each of the Eightieth's brigades acted independently, rotating through systems to deter hostile activity.[1]
The Eightieth was moved to an undisclosed area of the Periphery in 2765 to take part in the Periphery Uprising. The unit was destroyed during the Hegemony Campaign.[3]

Tactics[edit]
The Mechanized Infantry divisions of the Star League were used offensively to exploit gaps in the enemy front created by the BattleMech divisions. They also bore the brunt of defensive actions.[4]
Composition History[edit]
SLDF Mechanized Infantry divisions typically comprised two brigades of mechanized infantry and a single BattleMech brigade, with a ground aero wing also attached.[4] Eschewing this standard organization, each of the Eightieth's three brigades consisted of two mechanized infantry and one BattleMech regiment.[1]
