After the IlClan Trial, Clan Wolf became the IlClan, but Khan Alaric Wards taking almost all the available warriors to Terra left the Wolf Empire totally defenseless. However, it has a remaining high officer: Star Colonel Othar. He, acting by his own initiative, took the control of all the Empire's resources and began creating two new Galaxies: Lupus Galaxy and Rufus Galaxy.[1]
The Ninety-fifth Wolf Assault Cluster was one of Lupus' Clusters. By February 3152, it was already operative. The Empire had suffered several assaults of Wolf's Dragoons, some of these when the mercenaries were under contract of the Duchy of Tamarind-Abbey, and Othar decided to take reprisals and, he expected, to attract the Dragoons, so he sent the Ninety-fifth to attack the Tamarind's world of Simpson Desert.[2]
The Ninety-fifth easily took control of the planet after crushing the local militia forces, the 29 February. They were preparing to send a Trinary to make a recon-in-force at the planet of Kosciusko, when they received visit, but it wasn't the Dragoons, but the Second Battalion of the Seventh Tamarind Regulars. The rest of the unit was supporting the Dragoons' conquests, but the Second was sent there from Tamarind to counter the Wolves' attack. Tired of "pretending to not to be Clan anymore," the Ninety-fifth refused to dig at Fort Verdun, the planetary old Star League-era fortification, and awaited the Tamarinds on open ground. They attacked the Seventh's Drop Zone, damaging several of their DropShips, and leaving them trapped on the ground. Both forces chased each other around the forests, until the Tamarinds steal the Ninety-fifth's DropShips for themselves, departing. The wolves became at their turn trapped on the planet, until they can repair the old Tamarind's DropShips or finding another transport off-planet.[3]
