The Ninth Sun Zhang Academy Cadre is one of the Sun Zhang MechWarrior Academy's prestigious cadre units. Cadets assigned to the unit are put to the ultimate test by seeing real combat.
History[edit]
Formation[edit]
While on maneuvers on the world Damian in 2902 the Ninth drove off a raid by Helmar Valasek's Pirates.
Third Succession War[edit]
In May of 3013 The Ninth conducted a raid on the Federated Suns world Mara. Unfortunately, the unit was outsmarted by the defending Kell Hounds Mercenary unit who managed to steal the Cadre's JumpShip leaving the Ninth stranded.[2][3]
War of 3039[edit]
The Ninth Cadre was stationed on Dieron during the entire war and saw no active combat.[4]
Attack on Ingress[edit]
The Ninth Cadre launched an attack on Ingress in 3049 when Tai-sa Gitaki Hurunko decided to lead his troops on a 'training mission'. There they engaged their counterparts in the 3rd NAIS Cadet Cadre.[5]
Clan Invasion[edit]
As of 3054, the Cadre was not listed on the DCMS unit deployment table and the unit was confirmed destroyed in the Clan Invasion. However the particular details of this occurrence are still unknown at this time, though survivors were assigned to the Thirteenth Sun Zhang Cadre.[1][6][7][8]

Color Schemes and Insignia[edit]
Sun Zhang BattleMechs and fighters are painted white with blue stripes. The exact pattern differs among the Cadres. The Sun Zhang Cadres do not paint their machines in camouflage. Each 'Mech paints the House Kurita dragon on its upper left torso and the Cadre's insignia of a setting sun at various locations.[17]
