Personal History[edit]
Alahni, born on Jardine around 3047, had Polynesian features with rich, straight raven-black hair, brown eyes, a heart-shaped face, and a notably regal posture. By 3067 she was the Keeper of Tales for her tribe.
In 3067 Dr. Brooklyn Stevens rediscovered Jardine, managed to crashland on the hidden world after being attacked by its defenses, and eventually arrived at her village over the course of her flight from Word of Blake forces on the ground. At the village Alahni was tasked with informing Stevens about the history and people of Jardine.[4]
When Apollyon ordered the offworlders (Stevens and Tibor Mitternacht) be apprehended at all costs and the "Waywards" punished or killed, Alahni was ordered to guide Stevens and Mitternacht into the city of Hope. They escaped while the Shrouded Forest tribe was summarily slaughtered. The trio would sneak onto the DropShip Agravain as stowaways and attempt to seize control of the vessel once it had launched from Jardine. In the process, the entire crew was killed (save for up to three who may or may not have escaped) and the ship was wrecked. Mitternacht managed to rig an aerospace fighter to carry him, Stevens and Alahni away from the stricken ship and rendezvous with their JumpShip, the Sacajawea.[5]
Stevens brought Alahni to the debriefing with her Interstellar Expeditions employers on 12 December 3067, as living proof that she had indeed found Jardine. By this time, she had grown protective of her, and when Dr. Henry Croft demanded Alahni be handed over as the contract was for "Jardine and all evidence of its existence" she adamantly refused, pointing out that Alahni was not property.[6]
Alahni was apparently subsequently adopted by the Stevenses and went into hiding either alongside or separate from them with the help of Knights Paul Masters and Errol Berwyn. Sometime before 3096 Alahni and Berwyn began a romantic relationship, resulting in the 3096 birth of Stefka Riviera and Yeska Riviera in 3099. Apparently in an attempt to protect her children, she told them she was Russian.[2][3][7][8][9]
