The Altoona system is home to at least one inhabited world and as of 3145 was located in the Woodbine Operational Area of the Periphery March within the Federated Suns.[1][2]

System Description[edit]
The Altoona system is located near the Delacambre and Inman systems.[3]
Altoona is one of many moons orbiting a lone gas giant named Red Eagle. The system primary is a small red dwarf star. This arrangement is uncommon in the Inner Sphere, but what make's the Altoona system unique is the fact that there are two other moons that also support life orbiting Red Eagle.[4]
System History[edit]
The Altoona system was settled at some point during the Star League era after the Reunification War.[5][3]
During the last years of the Star League, the Department of Mega-Engineering was moving in equipment and running estimates on the feasibility of terraforming the two life bearing, but uninhabited, moons orbiting the same gas giant as Altoona.[4]

Planetary History[edit]
The media on Altoona reported in late January 3081 that no less than four separate convoys of immigrants from the Outworlds Alliance had traveled through the Altoona system since the end of the Jihad. Despite DropShips from the convoys landing on Altoona to trade goods for supplies, none of the groups were prepared to discuss the final destination of any of the convoys. Given the distance between Altoona and the Outworlds Alliance border, it was speculated that the convoys were moving to another Periphery nation following changes within the Alliance itself.[34]
