Lieutenant An Manliu was an officer of the 2nd Battalion (Marion's Rangers) of Marion's Highlanders, as of 2425, who assassinated Chancellor Arden Baxter.[1][2][3]

Manliu was a fanatically pro-Liao, but mentally disturbed, officer who was manipulated by Maskirovka agents posing as local radicals into assassinating Chancellor Arden Baxter in 2425 while he was on his way to visit the House of Scions.
His unit, Marion's Rangers, escaped wholesale retribution for his act but were given undesirable postings on the Federated Suns-Periphery border and gained a reputation for political unreliability.[1][2][3][4][5]
