Andé Lantau was the commanding officer of the Fifth Ghost Regiment during the War of 3039.[1]
History[edit]
On 13 July 3030, Tai-sa Lantau's Fifth Ghost and Tai-sa Katherine Oltion's Sixth Ghost arrived in the Draconis Combine's Biham system in order to liberate it from the occupying Eighth Crucis Lancers and Laurel's Legion. Lantau's Fifth Ghosts were primarily members of the yakuza and held a strong belief in the value of intelligence-gathering and carefully-constructed battle plans. After sustaining light casualties while making planetfall on 19 July, Lantau made contact with local Internal Security Force agents and other sources of intelligence in order to determine the best method of containing the Eighth Lancers' threat. The strategy Lantau and Oltion created relied on their Ghosts making rapid strikes against the Eighth Lancers' positions all across the planet and then fading away before the Federated Suns forces could mount any counterattacks. On 6 August, these tactics paid off when the Eighth Lancers' acting commander ordered all of his soldiers to form a defensive perimeter around the capital city, ceding control of most of Biham to the Combine.[1]
The FedSuns did manage to launch a moderately successful counterattack on 9 August, when the mercenaries of Laurel's Legion abandoned their post aboard the Tiberius Orbital Station in order to strike directly at the Ghosts' rear lines. While this did force some elements of the Sixth Ghost to abandon the siege of the capital in order to pursue the smaller, faster mercenary group, the Combine forces soon had a stroke of good fortune. Disagreements between the mercenaries and Eighth Lancers prevented the latter unit from launching a breakout attempt that would have forced the Ghosts into a vise, enabling Lantau and Oltion to force Laurel's Legion off-world on 27 August. While the Eighth Lancers could have held out indefinitely, even without the Legion's support, they instead chose to abandon Biham to the Ghosts on 4 September.[1]
