Yi-si-ben-bing Crane and her vessel Vicar were assigned to the Red Lancers on Sian but regularly dropped out of sight, which the Republic Armed Forces believed was because she was often performing key surveillance operations for the Death Commandos and Maskirovka. During the Capellan Confederation's 3144 invasion of Tikonov, a vessel matching Vicar's profile was recorded in orbit two weeks prior to the Confederation's assault, although it went unnoticed by Duke Aaron Sandoval's defenders. Crane remained in orbit above Tikonov for an entire week, only docking with Confederation merchant DropShips to refuel and rearm her space mines. When the Confederation invasion began, Crane's pre-placed mines crippled the planet's key monitoring satellites, with the planet's gravity finishing the job. Following the Tikonov attack, Vicar was reported as being back on Sian, although Crane herself was notably still absent.[1]
