Planetary History[edit]
The database of the (apocryphal) 1989 video game MechWarrior, set around the year 3025, gives a population of 3.297 billion for Autumn Wind and describes the environment as "desert" (out of only three broad impressions of planetary environments given in the game, these being "desert," "ice," and "tropical") yet the description one-liner reads "garden planet catering to vacationers."
Succession Wars[edit]
In 3002 Cassion's Commandos and its supporting Union-class DropShip Bolan's Blood raided against factories on the planet. The Steiner forces simultaneous attacked against the four target complexes. The attack was famously repulsed through Colonel Joseph Yetti using Planetlifter air transports, and the final act was a lucky missile hit that crippled the Bolan's Blood on landing approach when it tried to pick up its forces. With no way off the planet, Cassion's Commandos and the DropShip surrendered.[29]
The Jihad[edit]
The planet Autumn Wind was one of the targets of the Skye and Bolan Province invasion of the Free Worlds League in 3068. The invasion by the combined forces of the two Provinces, named Operation ÜBERSCHATTEN, saw Autumn Wind occupied along with the worlds of Gannett and Niihau by the 20th of May 3068.[21] As a part of the peace terms agreed between Marshall Jeremy Brett of the FWLM and Duke Alder Umayr of Bolan - and as a result of battlefield attrition - the Lyran Alliance withdrew its forces from Autumn Wind by the end of 3069.[22]
The Dark Age[edit]
During the invasion of the Marik-Stewart Commonwealth and the establishment of the Wolf Empire by Clan Wolf Autumn Wind was one of the worlds invaded. The defending forces on Autumn Wind made very effective use of Xiphos Assault Battle Armor to frustrate the Clan Wolf force and slow the invasion; the defenders transported the suits using Cavalry VTOLs, dropping the [battle armor]] squads a few hundred meters behind the Wolf front lines. The Xiphos squads then inflicted havoc on the artillery units supporting the Wolf forces; as the Xiphos was equipped with Reactive Armor, the stereotypical Wolf response - to shell the Xiphos squads with those same artillery pieces - was largely ineffective.[30]
Military Deployment[edit]
3002[edit]
- 751st Jump Regiment with three Planetlifters[29]
- A few battalions of locally raised militia[29]

Notes[edit]
- The 2007 novel Pandora's Gambit features a character perception that Autumn Wind has a "blisteringly bright red- orange sun" marking the sun as potentially an M (red)-class or K (orange)-class star whilst the 2022 poster map made available with the Empire Alone sourcebook marks the sun as a F (yellow white)-class star.[1]
