Avanti Industries was an Isle of Skye-based conglomerate that produced high-end luxury vehicles.
Overview[edit]
Eschewing military production, Avanti Industries focused on producing luxury vehicles for the nobility and corporate elite of the Lyran Commonwealth. Founded during the Star League era by the GioAvantis of Canonbie, a wealthy merchant family with roots stretching back to the central European region of Terra, the conglomerate avoided becoming a target during the Succession Wars by focusing almost entirely on civilian production. Avanti first aimed their products at the wealthiest and highest ranked customers of the Lyran nation and would later conduct sales across the rest of the Inner Sphere.[1]
While far overshadowed by the production volumes of more mainstream companies, Avanti's success comes from trading on the exclusivity of its products.[1] Their highly rated Zanadu Air Bus is sought for both its excellent safety features as well as its broad range of unique custom features.[2][3] The ACL-800 Comet is another popular design that serves as the company's regular sale item.[4][5]
During the Federated Commonwealth era Avanti Industries were competitors to a number of companies based in the Federated Suns; one such competitor, Aston-Martin, a luxury vehicle manufacturer based on Numenor, saw their market share eroded by robust Avanti sales. In particular, Aston-Martin lost their share of the New Avalon market completely, as sycophants preferred to buy Avanti-manufactured hovercars in an attempt to curry favor with the Archon. In the aftermath of the FedCom Civil War, Aston-Martin was quick to begin advertising campaigns based on their latest vehicles in an effort to recapture the market share taken by Avanti.[6]
During the Jihad, Avanti's facility on Skye was heavily damaged by the Word of Blake's use of orbital bombardment.[7]
