The Baker 3 system was home to at least one habitable world or construct and as of June 3152 was an independent world in The Hinterlands.[2]

System Description[edit]

Baker 3 lies near the Devin and Stonarboi systems.[3]

System History[edit]

The Baker 3 system was colonized at some point during or shortly before the Age of War, and by the end of this era Baker 3 had been incorporated into the Lyran Commonwealth.[4][5] It belonged to the Trellshire province of the Tamar Pact.[5]

By 3040, it was reorganized into the Blackjack Operational Area, Tamar March.[6]

Planetary History[edit]

Third Succession War[edit]

Shortly after Archon Katrina Steiner assumed the throne in 3007, she instituted the practice of combined arms wargames dubbed "Witch Hunts" on the "barren" worlds of Gypsum and Baker 3. LCAF units would hunt down "Witch" units, a light and mobile opponent typically portrayed by Winfield's Brigade or the Stealthy Tigers.[30]

Operation REVIVAL[edit]

In August 3050, Clan Jade Falcon conquered Baker 3 as part of Operation REVIVAL's Wave Four. The Baker's Militia defenders were at less than full strength so their commander, Colonel Matthew Anders, set traps and planned ambushes of the attackers forces. These tactics destroyed a few OmniMechs and three Points of Elementals, but were considered "dishonorable" by the Jade Falcon forces. This drove members of the Turkina Keshik to hunt down and kill every militia member they could find. Colonel Anders himself was killed with two Points of flamer equipped Elementals slipped past militia lines and destroyed the defenders headquarters.[31]

The Refusal War[edit]

In October 3057, Baker 3 would serve as a battlefield for the war between Clan Jade Falcon and Clan Wolf. During the ferocious battle, the two defending Jade Falcon Clusters were virtually destroyed, with then-Cadet Hansen a notable survivor.[32][33][34]

Falcon vs Viper[edit]

Baker 3 would be invaded by Clan Steel Viper during Wave Two of their Hegira War thrust into the Jade Falcon Occupation Zone. Though successful, the Steel Vipers would withdraw shortly afterwards following their defeat on Waldorff.[35]

Jihad[edit]

In early 3069, the Thorin FTM and Knights of St. Cameron assaulted the world, expecting to face the Tenth Provisional Garrison Cluster they instead faced the Seventh and Eighth Talon Clusters. Despite destroying the Seventh, the Lyran forces retreated to Deia as their losses mounted.[36][37][38]

IlClan[edit]

In the aftermath of the ilClan Trial Baker 3 regained its independence as the Jade Falcon Occupation Zone fragmented. As of June 3152 Baker 3 remained independent though closely bordered by Clan Hell's Horses, Alyina Mercantile League, and Khan Jiyi Chistu's reborn Clan Jade Falcon.[1]

Military Deployment[edit]

Geography[edit]

Baker 3 was known for its hot springs and lush forests which made it a favorite recreation spot for those traveling through the area.[29] Some earlier sources described the world as "barren."[30]
