BattleTech Universe is an intensely detailed sourcebook providing an overview of the history and setting of the BattleTech Universe, providing details of the features, technology and factions of BattleTech stretching across all BattleTech eras to the time of the ilClan.
BattleTech Universe was originally set to be published in the fourth quarter of 2022,[2] but was eventually delayed in the lead-up to the 2023 crowdfunding campaign for the BattleTech: Mercenaries boxset. Though flagged as being offered for general release, which backers could also select as a add-on option, the campaign also offered an premium Precentor Martial Edition with additional exclusive features in response to the campaign reaching the $2,000,000 USD stretch goal.
The standard version of BattleTech Universe was released on 4 October 2024

Precentor Martial Edition[edit]
As well as being included as a add-on option, the campaign offered a premium $200 USD physical Precentor Martial Edition which was hoped to include is to include half a dozen sections of layered acetate sheets allowing readers to "peel away" the various sections of a BattleMech, Battle Armor Aerospace Fighter and so on, multiple gatefold pages of mercenary wallpapers from the campaign and envelopes containing additional items such as the Hanse Davion and Melissa Steiner Wedding Announcement, all presented in a stunning box or slipcase.
The finished product features a carbon-fiber styled red chevron box similar to the campaign exclusive BattleTech: Mercenaries box which includes a sound chip with plays the seminal 'Mech start-up sequence from MechWarrior 2: 31st Century Combat when the hinged lid is opened. Inside are a number of art prints and double-sided Timber Wolf and Warhammer technical blueprints. The physical BattleTech Universe features the same carbon-fiber patterning as the box and features acetate sheets for the Star Lord JumpShip, Atlas BattleMech, Elemental Battle Armor.
