Overview[edit]

On 17 June 3147 Clan Hell's Horses launched Phase Two of Operation NOYAN, which included a Trial of Possession for the Clan Jade Falcon world of Leskovik. Things went wrong from the very beginning. The defending Eighteenth Falcon Regulars denied safcon to the Seventy-first Mechanized Cavalry. Aerospace fighters shot down a quarter of the Cavalry forces before they could even land.[3] Faster elements of the Cavalry deployed from their Landing Zone onto the Kolonia rolling hills, pursuing a Binary of Regulars' Fire Falcons and Black Lanners. Unknown to the Cavalry, they were being led into an ambush by a Star of the never-before seen Ion Sparrows who fell upon the Cavalry and turned the battlefield into chaos. Star Commander Chris Hazen, leader of the Ion Sparrow Star, was challenged by the Cavalry commander in his rare Parash 3. Though the Parash benefited from direct neural interfacing, he was no match for the maneuverable OmniMech.[4]

From there the battle progressed to the Suleiman Dunes where the Cavalry charged the Regulars' Trinary Bravo, commanded by Star Captain Arielle Chistu, who occupied the high ground. The Trinary's Banes helped ensure the Regulars would hold, and a Bane 7 managed to kill the Cavalry's Trinary commander in his Harpagos in the opening salvo. Seeing into Cavalry momentarily stunned into inaction by the death, the Regulars launched a devastating counterattack. It was here that another QuadVee, a Boreas was also destroyed.[5][2]

Aftermath[edit]

The Regulars salvaged the Boreas, though it was permanently stuck in vehicle mode. Arielle Chistu prevented it from being scrapped, and ordered it to be as repaired as possible. In an insult to its namesake, it was renamed "Broken Wind". Chistu was unwilling to pilot it but wanted to challenge for a tech with the knowledge to fix it. As of 3151 Star Colonel Von Jankmon had not agreed to it.[2]

Chris Hazen parlayed his performance in this battle for a spot at the Hazen Bloodname, which he secured.[4]
