Overview[edit]
In early April 3150 the Marian Hegemony sent VI Legio to conquer Gambilon and Marantha. Only a local militia defended Marantha and they proved mostly ineffective against BattleMech forces. During one attack near the city of Lancel Plains a lance of Locusts charged entrenched militia, expecting panic to send them into a rout. Instead, all four ’Mechs were destroyed by concentrated missile and field gun fire. For their failure, the MechWarriors were posted to the Cohors Morituri. Despite the bravery of that militia detachment, Marantha still fell to the Hegemony shortly afterwards.[1][2]
The victory was not to be long-lived, however. While Magestrix Ilsa Centrella-Liao had tolerated raids as the price of living in the Outer Rim, but an invasion was more than she would tolerate. With her approval, the First Canopian Brigade, First Magistracy Highlanders, and Third Canopian Fusiliers drove the Hegemony from Marantha and Gambilon.[3]
