Overview[edit]
Hearing that Republic forces departed Robinson, Tai-shu Takutaro Inada, the new Warlord of New Samarkand, ordered Tai-sa Nanami Kamata and his Sixteenth Galedon Regulars to take what he assumed to be a poorly defended world. Second Battalion split off to secure Bueller while the remainder of the Regulars advanced on the other traditional strategic target of the Robinson Standard BattleWorks Industrialplex. They were surprised by the First Davion Irregulars, a combined arms battalion who emerged from ambush to strike at their flanks and rear. Withdrawing from contact after nearly an hour, Second Battalion regrouped with the rest of the Regulars, then five kilometers from the RSBW. They were then intercepted by the previously undetected Second Davion Irregulars and two battalions of the Twentieth Avalon Hussars who pushed the Regulars back to their DropShips. Before managing to retreat off world, the defenders were able to destroy at least two Combine DropShips, at least one Union-class.[1][2]
Aftermath[edit]
For the loss of more than a battalion of troops with nothing to show for it when the Combine was already stretched too thin, Gunji-no-Kanrei Matsuhari Toranaga ordered Takutoro Inada's censure and dismissal from the DCMS, though Coordinator Yori Kurita countermanded that. Robinson was placed off-limits however, the cost required to retake the world deemed too high.[1] Despite this, by April 3150, the 7th Ghost was under orders to seize the planet on its own. Recognizing this as a suicide mission, commanding officer Takeji Yoshizawa went rogue, instead launching his own invasion of Emporia.[3]
