Branek "Nek" Meiyo was commander of the Third Battalion of the Sixth Pesht Regulars in 3039.[1]
History[edit]
Meiyo had been assigned to the Second Sword of Light until sometime before 3039. He was then transferred to the Sixth Pesht Regulars to forge the inexperienced unit into a worthy fighting force. Around this time, he also learned about his terminal illness.
On 14 April 3039, Meiyo's battalion successfully repelled a pirate attack on Nowhere without letting any of the pirates escape. Meiyo's deteriorating condition and wish to find the "good death" in combat prompted his request for transfer to a front-line unit during the War of 3039. His request was granted and Meiyo was assigned to the First Sword of Light, accepting a demotion to Tai-i.
On 12 September 3039, he participated in the recapture of Halstead Station, where he was engaged in heavy combat with the Twenty-second Avalon Hussars. Meiyo was killed in a duel by Leftenant Kenworth Vaktare, who himself also suffered mortal wounds.[2]
BattleMech[edit]
Meiyo was known to pilot a modified CPLT-K2 Catapult "Nek" BattleMech, for which he used his personal funds to replace the Standard PPC models with experimental Extended-Range models while dropping the machine guns and attendant ammunition for an additional pair of medium lasers.[1]
