Marshal Carl Sanders was in command of the Tenth Deneb Light Cavalry during the opening years of the Fourth Succession War.

In 3029, Marshal Sanders would lead his unit to Glenmora to help relieve the Wolf's Dragoons fighting there against the Fifth Galedon Regulars and Sixteenth Galedon Regulars. The arrival of the Light Cavalry forced the Draconis Combine forces to withdrawal and saved the Dragoons from destruction.[1]
However, in their inexperience, the Light Cavalry pursued the enemy forces where Carl Sanders would fall to a trap laid by the Sixteenth Regulars. There he died piloting his BattleMech when a Combine Stinger executed a "Death From Above" maneuver off a nearby building onto his Warhammer. Sanders's death left his unit leaderless, sustaining heavy casualties. That forced the Dragoons' commander, Jaime Wolf, to take the command of the Tenth.[1]
