Cassandra Mitchell was a notable tank crewman in the Lyran Alliance Armed Forces during the Jihad Era.[1]

Corporal Mithcell and her crewmembers Sergeant Thomas Becker and Private First Class Ian Bieber were stationed on Tharkad when the Word of Blake caused a nuclear disaster in Tharkad City on 5 December 3067. Despite being poorly-equipped for operating in an irradiated environment, Mitchell's crew quickly raced to assist the Disaster Response Teams, arriving in under an hour before beginning relief operations. The tankers protected supply convoys, evacuated civilians, and even cleared the rubble near ground zero so that decontamination teams could reach the melted nuclear reactor core behind the disaster. After two weeks of rendering aid, both Becker and Bieber suffered radiation sickness-induced breakdowns and the crew was forced to evacuate, in addition to Mitchell being stricken with aggressive leukemia several months afterwards. Peter Steiner-Davion later personally awarded all three crew members the Alliance Medal of Honor for their contributions to the disaster relief efforts.[1]
