For the purpose of this category, "unarmed" means having no weapon system installed that can directly disable or cause damage to enemy units by itself or through its ammunition, including flamers, inferno missiles, Anti-Personnel Pods/Anti-Battle Armor Pods, BattleMech Taser/TSEMP systems, and melee weapons such as 'Mech hatchets, spikes or wrecking balls, even when they are only meant for arena fighting or industrial use.
Conversely, the following systems are not considered weapon systems for the purpose of this category list:
- Sensor systems, including the Beagle Active Probe and Bloodhound Active Probe
- Target Acquisition Gear
- C3 units
- Standard (ballistic) Anti-Missile Systems and Laser Anti-Missile Systems
- motive system components/upgrades such as Jump Jets, MASC and Triple Strength Myomer (despite their usefulness for physical attacks)
