Category talk:Titles and Positions

Split category?[edit]

I am debating splitting the titles and positions off into seperate categories. As it currently stands we are very title heavy, that is not really suprising since the initial intent of the project was focused on them. Positions are a lot less fleshed out and are not as easy to define. This is where I am not sure if I want to do it. Positions would likely be things like planetary governors, leaders of political factions, religious leaders and CEO's of companies etc. The titles category has an innate structure but the positions category would end up as a real mixed bag that would run the risk of not being a very useful grouping.

I would appreciate input from other users.--Dmon (talk) 11:48, 14 October 2020 (EDT)

Titles as you say is clear: Duke, First Lord..., while Positions are more diverse. I could understand this split, but there in Positions I would try to do an internal split (sub-categories): Planetary Governors, Leaders of political factions, Religious leaders and CEO's of companies, and only in the sub-categories we link the actual Position.--Pserratv (talk) 12:20, 14 October 2020 (EDT)
By the way, Military Ranks should be Positions I feel.--Pserratv (talk) 12:52, 14 October 2020 (EDT)
I admit that I like the way we currently handle the commanding officers in relation to commands even if it is different to how we handle titles. Are you thinking to track ranks in the same way we currently do titles (as in we would track Colonel of the 5th sword of light in a seperate article) or do you simply mean that ranks should be a sub-category?--Dmon (talk) 13:40, 14 October 2020 (EDT)
I just mean they should be a sub-category as they are now, but in Positions and not in Titles.--Pserratv (talk) 08:15, 15 October 2020 (EDT)
I get you now, and yes I agree.--Dmon (talk) 08:31, 15 October 2020 (EDT)
