Charlene Thomas was a hover tank crewman in the Second Reconnaissance Platoon of the Sixth Syrtis Fusiliers' Eighteenth Verlo Armored Regiment during the Jihad.[1]

Private Thomas, along with her platoon leader Leftenant Samantha Deveraux and her crewmates Sergeant Sergei Mitchell and Private First Class Richard Huang, operated the command vehicle of the Eighteenth Verlo Armored's Second Recon Platoon. During the Capellan Confederation's invasion of New Syrtis in 3069, Thomas' team performed exceptionally in the fighting, personally destroying seven hostile BattleMechs and twenty-one enemy combat vehicles. Thomas' unit specialized in quick assaults against Capellan patrols and supply lines and were adept at utilizing their hover technology to make rapid retreats through otherwise-impassable terrain.[1]
