Christopher Cain was the commander of the Cain's Cavaliers company of the Eighth Lyran Guards during the Dark Age Era.[1]

History[edit]

Hauptmann Cain was a newly-graduated leutnant when he was assigned to the reformed Eighth Lyran Guards, which was known for specializing in Republic of the Sphere tactics and served as the Opposing Force in Lyran Commonwealth war games. Due to this specialty, the Eighth Guards were badly unprepared when Clan Jade Falcon launched its desant against the Commonwealth in 3134, leading to the demise of three-quarters of the regiment. Cain's father and son died when Galaxy Commander Aleksandr Hazen ordered Porrima's Allison City razed to the ground, although the Falcons ultimately decided not to occupy the planet. Cain soon developed into a hardened veteran and earned a promotion to company command after the Eighth Guards rebuilt, remaining with the unit through the Archonship of Vedet Brewer, the absorption of the decimated Sixth Lyran Guards after the Battle of Tharkad, and the Eighth's eventual relocation to Veckholm.[1]

Cain built his company—known as Cain's Cavaliers—entirely out of MechWarriors who had survived combat against the Clans. This instilled in him a strong sense of duty to ensure his soldiers' well-being, which barely surpassed the entrenched hatred he continued to feel for Clan Jade Falcon.[1]

BattleMech[edit]

Hauptmann Christopher Cain piloted a Banshee BattleMech while serving with the Eighth Lyran Guards.[1]
